A True Challenge for Experienced Hikers
Mount Slamet, standing at 3,428 meters, is the tallest volcano in Central Java and the second highest in Java after Mount Semeru. Known for its challenging ascent and unpredictable weather, Slamet offers an adventurous climb for experienced trekkers. Unlike Bali’s Mount Agung, Slamet does not have the same spiritual significance, but its vast volcanic landscape, steep inclines, and crater views make it a rewarding climb.
The volcano is still active, with minor eruptions recorded in recent years. However, it remains a popular destination for climbers, especially those seeking an off-the-beaten-path hiking experience.
Permit required, Guide recommended

Mount Slamet is known for its long and exhausting trek, often requiring 8 to 12 hours to reach the summit. The climb is not technical but is physically demanding due to its constant steep incline and rough volcanic terrain.
